Earthquake

In 1989, an earthquake of 8.2 on the scale nearly finished with the whole city of Armenia, but it killed more than 30 thousand people in less than four minutes. In the middle of this devastation and total chaos, a desperate father left his wife at home and rushed to the school where his son would be, only to discover that the building was completely in ruins. After the traumatic initial impact, he remembered the promise that he had made to his son: “WHATEVER HAPPENS I WILL ALWAYS BE with YOU.”And his eyes started filling up with tear. While he was looking at the debris that one day had been the school, there seemed to be no hope, but he did not stop thinking about the commitment with his son. He began to concentrate on the place of the school which his son would walk to class every morning. He remembered that his son’s class would be in the right corner of the back of the building; he rushed there and began to excavate the gravel. While he was excavating, other desperate parents came with their hands on their heart saying: ‘my son! ‘: ‘ My daughter! ‘Other well deliberate parents tried to separate themselves from what was left of the school and they said to him: “It is much too late! “: “They are dead! “: “You cannot help! “: “go home! “: “ Let’s go, confront the reality, there is nothing that you could do! “: “This way you will only make things worse! “ He answered each parent with a different phrase: “NOW ARE YOU GOING TO HELP ME?” And he proceeded to excavate in search of his son, stone after stone. The boss of the fire department and the police, all tried to persuade him to leave everything, giving him an endless number of explanations, but this affectionate and protective father only heard them and answered them: “NOW ARE YOU GOING TO HELP ME? “Nobody helped. Bravely he kept on working, because he needed to know for himself if his son was alive or dead. He excavated for 8 hours... 12 hours... 24 hours... 36 hours and almost after 38 hours of doing it, he extracted a flagstone and he heard the voice of his son. With his heart on the verge of exploding he shouted his name: “ARMANDO!” And he heard a voice: “ Daddy?! It is me Daddy! I said to the other children that they should not worry, I said to them that if you were alive you would save me and that when you would save me, they would be saved. You promised me: ‘ whatever happens, I will always be with you: ‘ you did it Dad! “: “ What is happening in there? How are you? “The father asked.” There are 14 children left out of 33 dad.
